He is the founder of Team Alpha Male and is a former WEC Featherweight World Champion, credited for bringing legitimacy and popularity to the lighter weight divisions. . Faber was an NCAA wrestler. With his base in wrestling, he later started Brazilian jiu-jitsu and quickly earned a brown belt under Fábio "Pateta" Prado.
