Petras. Petras (Greek: Πετράς) is the archaeological site of an ancient Minoan town on northeastern Crete. It includes a building which shows strong similarities with Minoan palaces and is sometimes labeled as a palace. Architecture. The architecture of Petras consisted mainly of a palace and houses attached built on terraces which contained storerooms, workshops and living quarters. Two houses known as House 1 and House 2 were uncovered which give insights into the societal practices of Petras. A hieroglyphic archive was also discovered during excavations.
