Lauren Groff (born July 23, 1978) is an American novelist and short story writer. She has written five novels and two short story collections, including Fates and Furies (2015), Florida (2018), Matrix (2022), and The Vaster Wilds (2023). She was named one of the 100 most influential people by TIME in 2024. Early life and education. Groff, the second child of Jeannine and Gerald Groff, was born and raised in Cooperstown, New York.
