Jakobstad (Finland Swedish: [ˈjɑːkopˌstɑːd]; Finnish: Pietarsaari, Finnish: [ˈpie̯tɑrˌsɑːri]) is a town in Finland, located on the west coast of the country. Jakobstad is situated in Ostrobothnia, along the Gulf of Bothnia. The population of Jakobstad is approximately 20,000, while the sub-region has a population of approximately 50,000. It is the 58th most populous municipality in Finland. Jakobstad covers a land area of 88.52 km2 (34.18 sq mi). The population density is 220.52/km2 (571.1/sq mi).
