Irish-born British statesman and political theorist (1729–1797)
Edmund Burke (; 12 January [NS] 1729 – 9 July 1797) was an Anglo-Irish statesman, journalist, writer, literary critic, philosopher, and parliamentary orator. He is considered by some to be the most influential of all modern conservative thinkers and writers. Born in Dublin, Burke spent most of his career in Great Britain, and served as a member of Parliament (MP) from 1766 to 1794 in the House of Commons of Great Britain with the Whig Party.
