Benjamin Eric Sasse ( SASS; born February 22, 1972) is an American politician and former academic administrator who represented Nebraska in the United States Senate from 2015 to 2023. A member of the Republican Party, he also served as the president of the University of Florida from 2023 to 2024. Born in Plainview, Nebraska, Sasse was educated at Harvard University, St. John's College, and Yale University. He has taught at the University of Texas and served as an assistant secretary in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in the George W. Bush administration.
