Adam Bennett Schiff (born June 22, 1960) is an American lawyer, author, and politician serving as a U.S. representative from California since 2001. A member of the Democratic Party, Schiff was a member of the California State Senate from 1996 to 2000. Schiff graduated from Stanford and Harvard Law School. As an assistant United States attorney, he successfully prosecuted Soviet spy Richard Miller in 1993 and began running for office the following year.
