On today's podcast I had the absolute pleasure of being joined by my first Troop Staff Seargent Richard Clydesdale. Also known as Clydey to his friends.

Clydey joined The British Army at the age of 16 years old. Joining the Corp of The Royal Engineers. Volunteering to go down the Airborne route joining 9 Para Sqn.

Clydey went on many tours with 9 Para Sqn at the junior levels and also in this time he became an Army Diver too.

Heading back to Gibraltar Barracks as an instructor for 12 months where all Royal Engineers are trained and pass out of before heading to their respective units within the Corp.

We discuss his times as a Staff Sergeant and this is where I was fortunate to cross paths with Clydey and get to go on an operational tour in Afghanistan under his command and guidance.

We discuss Clydey's experiences of leadership, discipline, fitness and family life whilst serving.

Lastly, we touch on his transition out the Army after serving 26 years and reaching the heights of a Warrant Officer.

Shoutouts go to Cortex Gym in Sandy and ISC in Ipswich.
